In reality, there are mainly three major types of lasers as widely used in Laser cutting parts. The CO2 laser is mainly suited for cutting, engraving and boring. Then you have Neodymium and Nd: YAG lasers, which are primarily the same in the style but might only differ in application.

  1. Nd is widely used for boring and where there is a need for low repetition and high energy. The Nd: YAG laser is later used in those areas with higher power need for boring and engraving. You can use both lasers for welding purposes.

  2. CO2 lasers as part of Laser cutting are mostly used for covering industrial cutting of so many materials like stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, mild steel, wood, plastic and more.

  3. Then you have the YAG lasers, which are mostly used for cutting down the metals and scribing them. It can also be used for ceramics, to say the least.
