The Functionality of a Power Coating Spray Booths

Updated: Aug 10

Power coating sprays booths are specified confined areas or plants where spray dyeing is practiced. This is basically a process from physical to chemical change. Due to the evaporation the liquid gets transformed into a dry powder. These places have a high tendency of catching fire leading to explosions.

We have advantages of these powder coating spray booths and on the other hand we can also have some adverse effect for these as well. The only way this risk could be minimized is by reducing the spray nozzle design and thus less leakage would be occurred during the process of spraying. This could also lower the cost of maintenance. The chances of fire get lowered too. Some of the plants are using spray lances inclusive of exposed nozzle.

These types of sprays are used on the hardware surfaces. If the design of the spray nozzle is inefficient then these usually work on the pressure levels. This increases the danger of causing fire.

Some of the advantages of powder coating spray booths are as follows:

  1. Helps to eliminate breakages.

  2. Very easy to use.

  3. Give the wear parts a long lasting effect.

  4. Saves a lot of money.

  5. Provides high strength.

  6. Hardware warranty for maximum 2 years is available.

  7. Power quality is improvised.

  8. Sealing is done is the best way.

  9. The operating cost is reduced by 50%.

  10. Improvise hygiene.

In this generation all the equipment are made and purchased by keeping hygiene in the first priority. Mostly continuous use of these could degrade the ability of the powder coating spray booths. It is very important for these stations to maintain proper safety standards. During the process of tightening, the daily used wear parts could either be placed upside down or in incorrect position. There are some technical features for these powder coating spray booths. They are as follows:

  1. The roofs and walls of these booths are usually made up of galvanized steel of 18 gauges thick. A track framework is set on which the roofs and walls are connected. There is no requirement of welding of field.

  2. The lighting in these booths is only accessible from the exterior parts. The lighting fixtures are ascended on the sheets and placed in the field. These sheets may be of ¼” tempered glass.

  3. The booth comprises of exhaust unit as well. Made up of galvanized steel of 16 or 18 gauges thickness. These units are assembled at the exterior of the booths. Comprises of a tube axial fan which is driven by belts and another is the filter system.

  4. The NEMA enclosure is created where a simple panel is installed which is used to operate the booth. This control panel helps the operator to handle the exhaust fan and the lights. This panel is highly protected from over flowing current.

  5. New technologies give us more and more upgraded version of the powder coating spray booths. There is another key feature that is the knob, to control and adjust the airflow entering these plants.

  6. At last when the final filters are in use then there is no requirement of the exhausted duct. Some other companies provide the following components. Like the light bulbs, control panel, services of the electricity and field wiring.

The information are useful for the basic questions like - what is powder coating, what are the benefits and adverse effects, what are the components required to work in these booths and many more. Whether it is to start from a fresh or upgrade the old one, all these are very important to know.
